GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- Margie Ferriter, wife of Lt. Gen. Michael Ferriter, commander, Installation Management Command, took time to talk with senior spouses during a visit, here, Jan. 27. They candidly discussed concerns including sponsorship, specialized programs for exceptional family members and the new fiscal realities facing military communities.
- Students take aim at marksmanship championship
"It's really calming for me," said Junior Alexis Finster, Vilseck High School.
"I usually try to take it slow and simple," added Max Pertrunyak, a freshman from Heidelberg.
Vilseck junior Meraleigh Randle tightened her lips and smiled, "I'm just a happier person when I'm shooting."
These are comforting words coming from rifle-wielding high school students, who despite their age, are collected and serious about their craft.

U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden hosted a Geman-American Police conference Jan. 19 at the Wiesbaden Entertainment Center to enlighten newcomers and refresh familiar faces on operations in the Wiesbaden military community.

While chilling winds blew and the snow continued to fall as ice covered the streets and vehicles, Soldiers of the 230th Military Police Company, 95th MP Battalion, 18th MP Brigade, marched on and conducted their Mission Readiness Exercise here Jan. 24 - 27 in preparation of its imminent downrange mission.

GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN, Germany -- As the snow falls in Garmisch, a service member couple on vacation at the Armed Forces Recreation Center, Edelweiss Lodge and Resort cozy up to the fireplace and enjoy a glass of wine after a great day. Another family who is on R&R leave from Iraq is relaxing in the hot tub after a sightseeing tour to the famous Neuschwanstein castle. Outside the resort, the kids are enjoying making a snowman with their dad who just returned from a long deployment.
- Europe troops rehearse for beginning of Patriot Express flights
The 21st Theater Sustainment Command's, 1st Human Resources Sustainment Center conducted a walk-through rehearsal at the Ramstein Airport, Jan. 30, 2012, in preparation for the Ramstein Gateway Reception Center's first Patriot Express flight, which is set to arrive Feb. 7.

During their four-day orientation, they toured USAGs Baden Wurttemberg, Kaiserslautern, Ansbach, Grafenwoehr and Garmisch. The Ferriters, and IMCOM CSM Don Felt, also stopped at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center to visit wounded warriors and military health professionals caring for them, along with receiving an orientation at Armed Forces Recreation Center Edelweiss on recreational activities available to Soldiers and their families.

For some people, preparing for retirement can be a very stressful and overwhelming experience. There are many questions that have to be answered such as: Will I be able to maintain a decent lifestyle? Has everything been done to insure my smooth transition? Is my medical coverage sufficient? Is my replacement properly trained? The questions can go on and on and on. But perhaps the most common question that begs for an answer is: What am I going to do next?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. influenced change through non-violent means during the civil rights movement. Two of his most famous contributions to the civil rights movement were the organization of the Montgomery Boycott in 1955 and his "I Have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln monument in Washington D.C. during the March on Washington in 1963.
- Garrison firefighters help douse blaze at German horse farm
When German firefighters from Winnweiler needed help dousing a blaze, they called upon Army firefighters at Sembach Kaserne, thanks to a mutual aid agreement with U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern.
